Its all about me... not what i represent.

a lot of people thinks sales is all about that thing your selling. but really... its all about YOU... lets step back before we get all over selling... why would you go to a concert its the same as listening to cd? why would you go wach live comedy when there is comedy channel? why would you watch an opera when on a dvd is exactly the same. it is all about the experience, the cast. and the environment there. So now lets look at selling... its exactly the same idea. people can purchase product through a lot of different channels... retail, online, on the phone, and big box stores. so why YOU? so the simple rule of selling, "its not about the stuff... its all about YOU" pretend you put on a show to the public. and if your work is accepted, people will buy. instead of people buying tickets to come see you... they way that our tickets work is that if our "show" is fantastic... cash register is the ticket!...

its like... the musicians and magicians in the subway stations. they will preform their work to you, and if it is fantastic, you'll drop down a couple of pennies (or more)... When you work hard in presenting yourself. it really doesn't matter what your selling, it'll sell. maybe not doesn't matter... but you know what i mean.

so here's how you could make this happen... know your how your product can be distributed. lets say if you sell coffee... coffee could be sold in big box, internet, cafes and so on. and if your job is to sell coffee find a way to differentiate from the other channels. big box and internet is easy... product knowledge would usually beat it... simple stuff like where was it plant from and maybe how it was roasted and so on... cafes is probably the harder once because they have the product knowledge. but what they don't have the time. so maybe your differentiation would be take your time and let your clients taste different coffee. in the end they might like more than one coffee.

also know the competitor know whats out there... you don't sell everything. so if you sell maxwell and out there, there's a Starbuck, why is your coffee different than their coffee. something like that. but  always differentiate your self.

lastly, the experience. go to different places and see how premium brands sell there stuff. like Apple, Bose, Bentley and so on. what makes their product sell even when they are 3 or 4 times more expensive. the answer: is the sales rep. the experience as a customer, you will go through from not knowing about them to falling in love with them and finally want to take a piece home with you. it goes back to they top. why would you want to watch concert and not listen to mp3. its different its LIVE. whats so good about that? its 3D and its not just eyes and ears... its everything else too like smell and emotions... make your customer service job to a customer service experience. and sales will simply follow with it
